Popeye March Issue - Exclusive Thom Browne Book

Bought the recent issue of Popeye Magazine. The issue was had a great article and section about denim. Denim fabric in general is the next big thing in men's fashion here in Japan. Chambray shirts, denim pants, denim slacks, denim tailored jackets, denim or chambray tie and so on. Hope I can incorporate this trend when it gets a bit warmer out. What was significant about this issue was the Thom Browne SS11 look book that came with it. It included shoots directed by Tomoki Sukezane and Thom Browne's latest collection. It was a good read.

ポパイ３月号を買いました。イヤー個人的には最高でした。まず、デニム特集が組まれていましたが余計にデニムスラックス欲しくなりましたね。At Last&CoかTom Fordのデニムスラックス欲しいです。Tom Fordは試着したのですが、値段が。。。とにかく、デニムコーデは自分もトライしてみたいです。そして、なんて言ってもトムブラウンの特別本。最新のコレクションを祐真さんがディレクションした写真からトムブラウンの最新アイテムを網羅。読み応えありました。

Black Fleece SS11

I received the latest catalog from Black Fleece a few weeks ago. I was astonished by how the new collection featured military based clothing. Everything seemed to be casual compared to its precursory collection. I still liked it, I feels this collection showed a new phase and yet seen capability.
何週間か前にブラックフリースのカタログが届きました。まず、カジュアルになったコレクションにびっくり。ミリタリー調のアイテムが多くを占めています。割とこの新しい感じも好きです、というかこれからブラックフリースはどのような方向に向かうのかが楽しみになります。

There is an obvious similarity in theme to the Thom Browne signature collection. "American Heritage" the Black Fleece collection this time has roots in military clothes back in the days of civil war and World War One. Officer jackets, military blousons, and military boots. (Picture above are signature looks that portray this military feel.) Similarly, Thom Browne's Fall collection was based on American heritage arranged with his scope. A new phase has started with in Thom Browne and I am very interested in where it is heading. Though, I hope he keeps his prestige's and authentic line of suiting. After all that was what pulled me into the world of Thom Browne.
トムブラウンのコレクションと似ています。題材という意味で。トムブラウンは自身のコレクションを”アメリカの歴史”と述べた通り、南北戦争時代、リンカーン、ワシントンなどの時代を題材にしています。あの時代の貴族や裕福とした人々の優雅でゴージャズな洋服にインスピレーションされたに違いありません。ブラックフリースは同じ時代背景ですが、ミリタリーに着眼したコレクションになっています。オフィサージャケット、ミリタリーブルゾン、やミルスペックブーツなどです。トムブラウンの中で新たなデザインの段階に入ったというか、また一つ幅を広げた様に感じます。これからが楽しみです。あ、でもトムブラウンのストイックで無駄のないスーツスタイルは是非キープして欲しいです。やはり、今でもトムブラウンのスーツが原点ですから。

Phasing into Spring - Closet needs change

It's the season where you start noticing new pieces on the racks. The sales clerk are already sporting their spring outfit. Bright and vivid colors are starting to highlight the stores. A question always hits me this time around. "When to change the wardrobe into spring clothes?" Whats holding me back is the weather. Its still cold out but I wanna wear spring clothes. Meaning, I want to keep my warm and cozy outerwear in my wardrobe but put in lighter fabrics as well. "So why don't you?" Thats what I get all the time but I guess, Im the type of person who wants drastically changes instead of gradual. I mean in terms of outfit. But when do you guys start of with your Spring wardrobe??

お店には春の新商品が続々と入荷して、すっかり春に衣替え。それに合わせてスタッフの方々も春の装い。この時期に悩ましいのがクローゼットの衣替えのタイミング。まだ、春物だけでは外は寒い。けど、早く季節感は出したい。難しい時期です。一番良いのは春物と冬物のアウターを混ぜて、徐々に衣替えなんでしょうが、性格的にいっぺんに変えたいのが問題。さあ、どうする？？皆さんはどうですか？

Oh yeah, I cannot believe they are raising the price of coffee at Starbucks in Japan. The smallest sizes are raised and the Venti are being lowered. Huh? Hurts being a coffee addict.

最近コーヒー中毒には悪い知らせが。そうです、スタバの値上げ。小さいサイズは値上げ、多きサイズは値下げ。悩ましい。。。

Kitsune Round Collar Western Shirt

I love the fact that this western shirt has normal buttons instead of the snap on the authentic ones. Also, the cuffs are normal barrel cuffs with buttons. Put it under a jacket and it looks just like a normal shirt in chambray fabric.

このキツネのウェスタンシャツはスナップではなく普通のがついているのが気に入ってます。カフスも普通のバレルカフスにボタン。ジャケットの下に来たら普通のシャンブレー素材のシャツに見えるところもいい。

A new video by Two Door Cinema Club was just released. The trio are rocking clothing from Kitsune! Cute video. Can't wait till their gig on the 19th at Shibuya!

Rugged but elegant! Love the contrast and clean feel that Kitsuné has interpret in each piece. I am especially adored by the chambray western shirt, a staple of Kitsuné, the red cardigan and the canvas weekender bag.  I suspect the knitting will be the excellent if manufactured by Corgi.Wanna pick up the actual pieces but gotta wait for a while!
ラギッドでエレガントが折衷している。そんな表現はぴったりなコレクションですね。キツネが作る洋服はどこかエレガントでクリーン。他のトラッドやアメリカンデザインをするブランドとはひと味違います。僕は大好きです。気になるのは定番シャンブレーシャツ、赤いカーディガンそして、ギャンバス素材のバッグ。今回のニットはコーギー製との事で最高に良い物が出来上ると期待しています。実物を早く手に取りたいですが、まだまだ先になりそうですね。
